It emphasizes building modern infrastructure (e.g., 5G, data centers, green energy-powered high-performance computing), robust data governance for research, and localized AI models to tackle national challenges, with cross-cutting enablers like regulatory reforms for ethical AI, skills development via literacy programs and curricula integration, and inclusive commercialization. Key focus areas span six domains: digital infrastructure, data R&D, talent, governance, investment, ethics/equity/inclusion, aiming to close gaps in regulation, skills, and investment while boosting R&D leadership. The strategy promotes public-private collaboration to enhance service delivery and positions Kenya as the 16th African nation with a national AI plan.
