Manufacturing Priority Agenda 2022

Prepared By Kenya Association of Manufacturers - 2022
The Manufacturing Priority Agenda 2022, themed “Manufacturing sector recovery and sustained growth for Kenya’s shared prosperity,” serves as a strategic advocacy framework guiding KAM’s engagement with the government and stakeholders to revitalize the manufacturing sector after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The agenda is structured around five pillars: enhancing market access, pro-industry policy and institutional framework, SME development, industrial sustainability and resilience, and competitiveness with a level playing field.

It addresses critical challenges such as high production costs, unreliable energy supply, transport and logistics inefficiencies, illicit trade, and regulatory burdens. The agenda advocates for improved access to affordable and reliable energy, reduction of transport costs, fight against illicit trade, and lowering of industrial input costs. It also emphasizes the importance of stable macroeconomic policies, pro-industry skills development, digitalization, and green growth aligned with sustainable development goals. By fostering collaboration between government and private sector actors, the MPA 2022 aims to create an enabling environment that supports investment, job creation, and increased manufacturing contribution to Kenya’s GDP, thereby driving inclusive economic growth and industrial transformation
